Review Policy

I am currently not accepting review requests. If you have emailed me and I haven’t yet gotten back to you, I will soon.

I read a lot of different things, and I read a lot.

A random sampling* of favorite books, to give an idea of what I like to read:

  • Ash by Malinda Lo
  • Cinder by Marissa Meyer
  • Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
  • Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan
  • Kushiel’s Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey
  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
  • The Fire Rose by Mercedes Lackey
  • Hand of Isis by Jo Graham
  • My Life in France by Julia Child and Alex Prud’homme

Some* of my favorite genres include:

  • YA
  • Fantasy
  • Historical fiction
  • Dystopian and post-apocalyptic fiction
  • Science fiction

*These are by no means complete lists, and may be changed or updated at any time.

YA is my favorite right now, because there’s so much fun stuff coming out. The only type of YA I don’t read a lot of is contemporary. There’s got to be something magical or funky to keep my attention.

I like paranormal stuff. Vampires. Werewolves. Witches. Wizards. I like any type of fantasy, from epic to paranormal to urban. Some more things I like are strong female characters, creative worldbuilding, twisty plots, neat magic systems, fun mythologies. I also have a strong interest in LGBT fiction and nonfiction.

I try to give quick turnaround on books received for review, but sometimes it may take up to a month (or more) because I get backlogged, or lost in other books. I try my best not to let that happen, but sometimes it does. Above all, I read for enjoyment. Lastly, I don’t have a strict review format that I follow every time. I do what “feels” right for each book.

I post reviews on my blog (leeanna.me: a book and writing blog) and to my Goodreads account. I sometimes post reviews to Amazon, but that’s mostly for Vine books. I also link my reviews on my Twitter.

I do review self-published and indie books.

I prefer to read physical books, because they are easier on my eyes. However, I understand that e-copies are easier to send, and cheaper, too. I accept .epub format only.

If you’re interested in having me review your book, you can send an email with the following information to maurapedia@gmail.com. I reply to all inquiries concerning reviews. If your book doesn’t fit into my genre list, but you think I might like it anyway, contact me! Chances are, if the summary piques my interest, I’ll want to read it.
