Bout of Books 6.0

I made a spur of the moment decision to join Bout of Books 6.0. I’m joining in a day late, but I can still catch up.

Don’t know what Bout of Books is?

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 6.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books 6.0 team

1. Read Mind Games by Kiersten White
2. Read Katya’s World by Jonathan L. Howard
3. Start Counting One’s Blessings: The Selected Letters of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother edited by William Shawcross. Not sure how good this is going to be, but I want to give it a chance.

1. Review The Queen’s Vow
2. Review Mind Games
3. Review Katya’s World

I’ll be keeping all my updates in this post, because it makes everything neat and tidy. Hit the “Continue reading” link for updates.

Olympic Readathon August 7 Update ( #OlympicReadathon )

olympic readathon 3

Wow! The Olympic Readathon is almost over :( I’ve really liked having a longer readathon, so I’ll be sad to see it end. I wish I had more time to hang out on Twitter and socialize with the others doing the readathon, but I only have so many hours in the day. I’ve been trying to watch coverage of the Olympics, too, but a lot of the events I’m interested in aren’t being shown on TV. Boo!

I’ve got 4 days left, and I intend to make the most of them. I should definitely reach my goal of 2012 pages.

I’m currently reading The Peculiars by Maureen Doyle McQuerry.

I’ve finished:

Huntress by Malinda Lo
Page count: 384
The Wild Princess by Mary Hart Perry
Page count: 432
Darkness Before Dawn by J. A. London
Page count: 342
The Pledge by Kimberly Derting
Page count: 336

Running count: 1,494
Goal: 2012
Pages to goal: 518

Olympic Readathon (@RandomHouseCA, #OlympicReadathon)

I’m sorry for the lack of updates. I’ve not been feeling well, and haven’t been able to spend a lot of time on the computer. I should get caught up this weekend on comments and visiting blogs. And having tons of reviews ready doesn’t mean much if you don’t have them formatted and scheduled :|

I am finding more time to read, though, because books don’t bug me!

From July 27th to August 12th, I’ll be participating in Random House of Canada’s Olympic Readathon. I’m excited to do a readathon that’s longer, and not set during the work week! My goal is 2012 pages.

Instead of updating this post with my progress every night, I am going to try to do a nightly update with pictures. I’m still on my Instagram kick. Follow me, I’m leeannac.

Once Upon a Time Read-A-Thon Wrap Up #OUreadathon

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

I didn’t do quite as good as I’d hoped for the Once Upon a Time Read-A-Thon. :( I only managed to read one book from my list, The Selection by Kiera Cass. Considering that I’ve had that book on my list forever, I am happy about that, although I do wish I’d had more time. I guess that’s my lesson that read-a-thons during the week don’t work that well for me!

I did have fun, though, and participated in a few of the mini challenges. I’m still on the lookout for more events like this!

Once Upon a Time Read-A-Thon

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

I’m participating in another Read-A-Thon! This one is hosted by Reading Angel, Candace’s Book Blog, and Pure Imagination Blog, and runs from July 9 to July 11. My goal is to read four books, which may be tricky because I’m busy during the day, but I’m going to try anyways.

The list:
01. The Selection by Kiera Cass
02. Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child by Bob Spitz
03. Stormancer by Jay Kristoff
04. The Last Princess by Galaxy Craze (not pictured)

I may change this list, and I probably will. Dearie is quite dense, so probably not the best pick for a read-a-thon.

I’ll update this post with my progress, so check back!

July 9: An epic fail of a day for reading. I read maybe 15 pages of The Selection and 15 pages of Dearie. I checked out a new load of ebooks this morning, so once I put some of those on my phone, I may pick up speed.
July 10: I’m about halfway through The Selection. I had a prime reading opportunity tonight — an Internet outage in my area, lasting ALL NIGHT — but I gave up and went to bed. This is turning out to be a read-less-a-thon for me :/
